Capturing those moments of spontaneity, the relationships between people, or the friendship of a pet is what I love about photographing people.  Many of my images will become more valued over the years – children cuddling their favourite pet, snuggles with parents, or the simple pleasure of flying high on a swing.  Many of these moments are lost in time for we often don’t have the opportunity, time or the equipment to capture them.

Whilst serving in the Royal New Zealand Air Force as a photographer, I was deployed to East Timor.  Many locals we came in contact with had heart wrenching stories to tell but despite this, or perhaps because of this, they knew how to value the precious moments in life.  These moments are sometimes taken for granted in the western world, laughing with family and friends, riding a bike, or just watching a child race around in relative freedom.
