Wanting to stay at an iconic Kiwi camp ground?  Then check into Tapu Camp, 20 minutes from Thames along the Coromandal Coast Road, where, as the slogan states, “where everyday is a holiday”!

Be prepared to take a step back in time and it won’t take you long to remember those lazy hazy days of your childhood summer.  With the beach and the local creek swimming hole on hand, you can wile the day away.  Even going for a walk around the Camp is a treat for Kiwi’s and tourists alike, with bright retro caravans contrasting against bright blue sky, a cactus taller than any building, and you’ll even hear the owner calling a jolly ‘gidday’ or ‘cherio’ to campers as he goes about his daily tasks.

The amenities are all clean, including the original weatherboard buildings of yesteryear.  Although you’ll have to have a cold shower in that particular block if you dare!  There’s hot shower’s, laundry facilities, and a kitchen on site too so for those who don’t want to brave the chilly water there are other options.

You can base yourself from this little hidden spot of paradise, or just relax, read a book, take your fishing rod, and have a dip when it just gets too darn hot!
